Forum 2 - Commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Tan Kah Kee

On November 9, 2024, the Tan Kah Kee Foundation, in partnership with the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI), held a forum at SCCCI’s iconic Kah Kee Hall to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the late Tan Kah Kee. Esteemed speakers, including Dr. Zhang Hui Mei, Associate Professor Wong Sin Kiong, and Associate Professor Yow Cheun Hoe, shared profound insights into Tan Kah Kee’s life and enduring legacy.

Mr. Lawrence Tan, Chairman of Tan Kah Kee Foundation, regards this academic seminar as a significant milestone in this series of commemorative events. He believes that an effective way to promote Tan Kah Kee’s spirit is by raising awareness of his remarkable contributions and visionary ideals. By spreading knowledge of Tan Kah Kee’s legacy, more people can be inspired by his dedication to education, community development, and the betterment of society.
The event was attended by prominent community leaders such as SCCCI President Mr. Kho Choon Keng, Deputy Editor-in-chief of Lianhezaobao Mr Peter Ong, former editor-in-chief of lianhezaobao Mr Lim Jim Koon, alongside over 200 members of the public.
