As part of the Tan Kah Kee’s 150th birth anniversary commemorative events, we hosted our very first forum on 31 Aug, titled: “Tan Kah Kee and His Phenomenal Contribution to Education”, at the Hwa Chong Cultural Centre Theatre.

The event started off with welcome speech by Mr Lawrence Tan, Chairman of Tan Kah Kee Foundation. In his speech, he highlighted “.. we are here to explore and appreciate how the vision of one remarkable man (Mr Tan Kah Kee) has transcended generations, inspiring countless educators and philanthropists who continue to shape the educational landscape”.

The panel includes distinguished speakers, some of whom are also Tan Kah Kee Scholars: Prof. Wong Limsoon, Prof. Eugene Tan, Prof. Eddie Ng, and Ms Lin Rongchan and Asst Prof Chan Cheow Thia. Their insights into education, deeply rooted in Tan Kah Kee’s principles, were both inspiring and thought-provoking.

Our audience also contributed by posing insightful questions, which sparked meaningful discussions and further reflection.

A special note of thanks goes to Prof. Wang Gungwu for gracing the event. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sia Nam Chie, Chairman of the Board of Hwa Chong International School, for graciously providing the venue.

Last but not least, we deeply appreciate the participation and support from Hwa Chong, ITE, and all our distinguished guests.
