2024 Chinese New Year "Tuan Bai"

Following our well-established New Year tradition on the first day of Chinese New Year, the Ee Hoe Hean Club and Tan Kah Kee Foundation jointly held a lunch gathering to celebrate Chinese New Year with our members. Mr Zhu Jing, Charge d’Affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore was the Guest-of-Honour.

At the celebration, which included delegates from the Chinese Embassy as well as members from Ee Hoe Hean Club and the TKK Foundation and our respective friends and associates, warm greetings and well wishes were exchanged. Mr Lawrence Tan Han Tong, Chairman of Tan Kah Kee Foundation gave a welcome speech on behalf of the Foundation and also took the occasion to officially announce the increase of 10 additional scholarships for the Lifelong Learning Scholarship Programme.

These scholarships are curated for ITE graduates to encourage them to pursue further education. First launched in 2023 with the award of 10 scholarships, it will be increased to a total of 20 scholarships from 2024 onwards, in order to benefit more students. In his speech Mr Tan took the opportunity to appeal to interested parties to support the programme by sponsoring and hence enlarge the pool of this category of scholarships.

Since 2024 is the 150th anniversary of the birthday of Mr. Tan Kah Kee, our chairman also announced the Foundation’s plans to hold seminars in the coming months to commemorate the legacy of Tan Kah Kee. He hopes that all our friends and associates as well as the public can generously support the Foundation, and we look forward to their active participation in the months to come.
